Adult Intensive Outpatient
The Intensive Outpatient Program at the Family Counseling Center located in Wheat Ridge Colorado offers a higher standard of care for adults who need more intense treatment than can be provided with the typical one to three hours per week of outpatient services. The Intensive Outpatient Program is typically 2-3 hours a day for 3 days a week of treatment with a total of 6-9 hours a week of treatment. The services are generally offered in the afternoon hours to allow individuals to remain in school or at work as much as possible. Services are offered for both mental health and substance abuse needs, and in many cases, we provide a combined program.
The program uses a comprehensive and holistic philosophy, which addresses physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual issues to promote health & healing. Intensive Outpatient combines individual, family, and group therapy. For substance abuse clients, urinalyses are also conducted. Within the program, its components are selected to provide individualized treatment to meet the needs of each client. Working with entire families is a priority for Lost and Found Inc., so we encourage family involvement whenever possible, including family sessions as well as groups for parents to provide them support and improve their abilities as effective, successful parents.
Treatment Modalities
We continually update our program consistent with new research in the field, but the following list includes many of our modalities and services:
- Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies
- Changing negative thinking & practicing new behaviors is a practical way to make changes & move toward health
- Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
- EMDR uses bilateral stimulation of the brain to resolve trauma & other problems. It is the primary empirically validated approach for trauma resolution
- Emotional Freedom Techniques
- This therapy method uses acupressure techniques to reduce depression, anxiety, cravings & trauma.
Experiential Art Techniques - Using right brain modalities can access problem areas that “just talking” won’t touch.
Addiction Treatment - Nambutripad Allergy Elimination Technique
- NAET is an alternative medicine using applied kinesiology & acupressure to eliminate allergies & improve the immune system.
We take a holistic approach, addressing spiritual issues, thought processes, nutrition, & exercise, as well as 12 step materials.
Evaluations & Assessments
These include food, allergy, & nutrition assessments; psychological testing & evaluations; & urine screens.
Family Therapy
We take a family systems approach that is often experiential in nature to create changes in the whole family as each member affects the others.
Adult groups include:
- Adult Addictions
- This group is designed to provide a safe, supportive, interactive, and intimate environment for adults to create and maintain a change plan of their own design. The curriculum is based on a Stages of Change Model and approaches addiction as a symptom of difficult life issues, rather than the only focus. Relational issues, Boundaries, Mental Health, Empowerment, Negative Cognitions, Family Roles, Beliefs and Drama Triangles are but a few of the topics that are covered in an effort to equip members with insight, motivation and direction.
- If you are open to listening to others, opening up gradually and looking more in depth at issues that drive your negative behaviors and addictions, this group will bring you helpful hope on your journey
Intensive Outpatient Treatment offers a wide range of services to help adults. We treat a broad base of mental health and substance abuse needs, and most importantly, the program is flexible, allowing for the best possible course of treatment.
